KEVIN WILSON MEMORIAL MILE

The Rock CF Rivers Half Marathon wouldn’t be here today without the direction and operational leadership from our long time friend and mentor, Kevin Wilson.

To commemorate Kev, we are excited to announce the Kevin Wilson Memorial Mile. This one mile segment will start one mile out from the finish line. Every participant on race day will be a part of it! We can’t wait to see you all celebrate Kevin with us this March 💜

IN MEMORIAM

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear friend, Rock CF Rivers Half Marathon co-founder and race Operations Director, Kevin Wilson. Our history with Kevin is long and rich.

Kevin was Emily’s gym teacher from 1st through 8th grade, and that’s where their bond started. “Emster” (as Kevin started calling Emily in the 90’s) was his right hand girl on the football field, acting as his manager for 6 years to make sure the players had everything they needed, and that he had bubble gum in his pocket.

Emily was introduced to half marathons by Kevin who began running just before her. They trained together for years running around Grosse Ile talking about food, family, food, and more food. It was on one of those runs around the island that the Rock CF Rivers Half Marathon was born.

We are so thankful that Kevin was well enough to be at the Race this year. Having him out there meant the world to us, and him. We are going to miss Kevin more than we can even begin to imagine. Our races will never be the same, but we will carry on his legacy as long as we can.

Our thoughts are with his wife Robin, their kids, and grandkids who all loved him dearly.

THANK YOU TO OUR 2024 SPONSORS
