Half Marathon & Relay
Location: Grosse Ile Middle School
Time- 6:00 a.m.- 7:45 a.m.
Location- GI Pilot House (9645 Groh Rd, Grosse Ile)
Time- 6:00 a.m. -8:00 a.m.
NO CARS WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE MIDDLE SCHOOL PARKING LOT ON RACE DAY! If you are picking up your packet on race morning you must either park at the High School and walk over, or ride the shuttle from the lots at the airport (9801 Groh Rd).
There will be no drop offs allowed.
2 Person Relay Info Leg 1- 7.7 Miles/Leg 2- 5.4 Miles
Leg 1 will start with the Half Marathon at 8 am from Middle School
2 Yellow school buses will take all 2nd leg runners to the relay transition area at 8:05am. These two busses only make one trip, so you MUST get on one of them if you are running the 2nd leg!
Relay Transition at Grosse Ile Water Treatment plant on West River
Vans will run from transition area continuously and return 1st leg runners to the Middle School
Half Marathon & Relay-Inside of the GI Middle School Gym
5K- Drop at U-Haul Box Truck at GI Pilot House/Pick Up at Finish Line!
Leg 1- Drop in TEAL bags in Middle School Gym/Pick up in Transition Area
Leg 2- Drop in RED bags in Transition Area/Pick up in Middle School Gym
All runners will receive a long sleeve tech shirt & medal
Our famous homemade cookies, Panera bagels, coffee, and Great Lakes Potato Chips will be served post race inside of the Middle Schoole Cafeteria
Awards will be inside of Grosse Ile Middle School. Look for signs & awards table!
*Half Marathon Course Info: There will be a 3 hour and 30 minute time limit for the half marathon. This breaks down to a 16 minute per mile pace. If you wish to continue beyond the limit, you will be on your own with no support provided by the race.
Special Note: Grosse Ile is an island connected by two bridges. The north end bridge costs $2 to enter. The south end bridge is Free. Please note that because of trains and possible bridge openings your travel time could be delayed. Please plan to arrive on the island early to make sure you have ample time to prepare.
Leave the driving to us, jump on one of our school shuttle buses!
Parking/Shuttle Lot Location- Use 9801 Intrepid in GPS to & Follow Signs to Airport from Bridges.
Yellow school buses will start shuttling runners from lots to GI Middle School (and vice versa) at 6:00 a.m. This is for the Half, Relay & Spectators!
Post race shuttles from GI Middle School to Township lots begin at 9:00 a.m.
Grosse Ile High School Parking Lots- Walk path to GI Middle School for half marathon & relay packet pick-up/registration & start line, and shuttles to airport for 5K race and 5K packet pick-up/registration!
*** Cars will not be allowed to enter the Middle School lot before, during or after the race.
All runners and spectators must park at the High School or Macomb St and walk over via the path behind the school, or park in our shuttle lots and be dropped/pick up at the Middle School!***

Our course is incredible for spectators. Thanks to an abundance of cross road that hit the course, you can catch your runner all over the island!
Spectator Do's and Dont's for Race Day
- Ride the shuttles from the airport to the Middle School, park at the High School, or park on Macomb St and walk to the Middle School via the path behind the High School
- Drive on and park on roads that intersect the course and walk down to the race course to see your runners!
- Be patient
- Cheer and have FUN!
- Come inside of the Middle School to stay warm and buy some Rock CF Gear!
- Drive on ANY part of the race course during the race
- Try to drive to the Middle School at any point on race day (NO runner or spectator cars will be allowed access to the MS)
- Park on residents lawns
